Frequently Asked Questions
Only CAM Compare (Gerber vs Gerber, ODB++ vs ODB++) is supported in interCAD Reader.
PCB or schematic comparison is only available in interCAD Editor, so if you need this function, please use the Editor.
interCAD Reader can use the main functions of interCAD Editor except Share Package and Translator functions.
However, Compare function is provided only for CAM drawings.
For example, if a partner only has a schematic in OrCAD Capture, we will create an IXD file with the PCB drawing and send it to you using interCAD Editor.
The recipient can easily review the schematic and PCB drawing by viewing them simultaneously using the free product interCAD Reader.
IXD files generated by interCAD Reader or Editor contain the schematic and all components, layers, etc. of the PCB, allowing you to review the exact same data as the original.
With the increasing importance of security, interCAD Editor provides various powerful security options to support the safe sharing of design drawings.
Due to security features in Share Package, recipients may not be able to take screenshots.
You can distribute only the areas that the user wants to share, and only the parts within those areas can be checked.
This feature is provided through the Restricted Area of the Share Package, and if you specify an Allowed Area, the recipient can only review the objects contained in that area.
You can also set an additional Restricted Area within the Allowed Area.
In the Signature tab of Share Package, you can check the information of the design distributor and creator, such as the creator, company name, number, homepage, and image.
This allows you to clearly identify the copyright and enjoy the promotional effect at the same time.
Just as you need the program and license of each tool when opening a file in interCAD Editor, you also need the program and license of the tool when converting.
For example, to convert from Allegro to Zuken, you need the program and license of both Allegro and Zuken.
As an exception, if the file you want to convert is in ASCII format (e.g. .asc file of PADS), you can convert it without a separate program.
Therefore, if you convert from Allegro to PADS and convert it to an .asc file, you can convert it without the PADS program or license.
In interCAD Editor, parts, nets, and routings are converted identically to the drawing before conversion.
On the other hand, Shape, Fill, Copper, and Reference may have slight differences depending on the unique characteristics of each PCB tool.
